France deploys six Mirage aircraft in Jordan to strike ISIS and strike them near Kirkuk
Shafaq News / French Minister of Defense, Jean-Yves Odrian announced on Wednesday, that France will deploy six "Mirage" aircrafts in Jordan to be added to the nine "Rafale"
aircrafts currently based in the UAE, in order to participate in raids on ISIS.
Odrian said in the French parliament that " French Air Force will be promoted by six Mirage aircraft stationed in Jordan."
The French-based process currently launched on September 19, 2014 depends on nine Rafale aircraft stationed in the United Arab Emirates, i.e. two or three times far from the scene of operations in Iraq than in Jordan.
In a related context, the French Ministry of Defense announced today that two of the Rafale have launched strikes on targets of ISIS in conjunction with an international coalition aircraft near Kirkuk city north of Iraq in order to break through the front lines of the organization.
The statement added that the Rafale fighter-guided missiles targeted four trenches used by ISIS fighters to besiege the city.
The statement said that "this move was carried out in conjunction with our allies to create a gap in the defensive positions controlled by the terrorists on the front between Iraqi forces and the Islamic state."
